Sometimes You Need to Say No

Do you find yourself saying YES to everything all the time? Well, sometimes saying YES too quickly may be the wrong thing to do. Sometimes you need to say NO.

Why should you learn to say NO instead of YES?

Saying “Yes” To Everything Is Short-Sighted Thinking

Saying YES to everything or everyone will leave you regretting it later. You are not obliged to take everything that is thrown at you simply because you are afraid of hurting others. Don’t allow yourself to get into short-sighted thinking by trying to please everyone. Start valuing your own interests above other things. Don’t just say YES when you should be saying NO for being fearful of resentful overreactions, offending others or losing relationships. Think of the consequences of saying YES before saying it.

Saying YES, all the time can leave you feeling drained emotionally

Don’t ever say YES to things that don’t excite you just to please someone else. Why? Because saying YES to everyone/everything can leave you feeling emotionally drained. In most situations giving in to things for the sake of it instead of saying NO makes things more difficult for you. Allowing yourself to feel pressured to say YES to others will lead to feelings of anxiety, guilt, anger, and resentment. You will be left feeling directionless, unfocused and stressed.

It is easy to get manipulated by others

It is easy to get manipulated by others if you never say NO to them. Most people have a difficult time saying NO due to fear of reprimands, attack, and avoidance by others. The truth is that it is hard to please everyone. It is wise to pause for a minute and think about how saying YES will impact your life, ambitions or even health. It is senseless to say YES instead of NO knowing very well that you are being taken advantage of. Be aware of manipulators disguised as employers, friends, relatives or even loved ones. Let a NO mean NO and YES mean YES not the other way around if you want to be in charge of your own life.

It can decrease your Value

Don’t just say YES to people or things just to make others like you. In fact, it really decreases your value and people will start taking advantage of you. You need to start saying NO to create exclusivity for yourself. You can’t just say YES to everyone and expect them to respect or love you for it. At times saying too many YESES can backfire on you leaving you totally drained, unhappy and in trouble.

You have the right to object, stand up for yourself, and listen to your inner-self when no one else can hear you. Only say YES to things you feel connected to, don’t lose your own world trying to please someone else. It is your right to say NO or YES. Make your choice wisely for your own happiness.
