Share Your Strengths and Contributions

Everyone has their own strengths in their personal and professional life. Those strengths are the ones that make us stronger. Sharing them will not make you weak as everyone has his or her own strengths and you need to share them with other people to inspire and help them.

The use of character strengths is usually connected with a lot of benefits including engagement, well-being, meaningful life, decreased depression and achievements. In most circumstances, our brains are wired towards the negatives. In fact, research has found out that bad is stronger than good.

The reason why we discuss our strengths is not to show that we are better than others. Sharing your strengths will make the demand for the situation to be significant. What you say and how you will say it will really matter.

It is also beneficial to share good things about yourself. The research shows that when you share the things that have happened to you, you will get positive benefits. The whole process is known as capitalization as you capitalize on the good experiences as well as positive stories. The benefits are both interpersonal and intrapersonal. The more you share the more benefits you get.

Do not deny others a chance to know you. By doing this, they will only see a facade. They will only see a portion of your character but not the complete view. Some people do not like talking about their strengths. The question you need to ask yourself is why are you hesitant. Some people do not like talking about their strengths just because they think people will laugh at them or they will be criticized. You should keep in mind that positive criticism is always good as you learn what you can change.

You should also re-educate your memory as well as attention. When you are sharing positive experiences, you are increasing your memory for the positive events that aids in explaining why there are important benefits to sharing.

You need to know yourself. You cannot share about your strengths when you practically have no idea who you are. Sharing strengths is one way of self-awareness. Keeping our observations as well as good qualities on the inside makes us miss an opportunity for deepening our self-awareness.

It is vital to share our strengths with other people and this is because we all have different strengths and contributions which are unique to us hence sharing will not decrease us success.
