Be Mobile

As you progress in your career as an administrative professional you’ll become more and more indispensable to your executive, so it’s important to maintain mobility. You want to make sure that your executive can always reach you and that you have access to key details, even when you’re not in the office.

A few tips to help maintain mobility include:

  • Always have your cell phone with you

  • Make sure that your calendar includes everything that’s on your executives, so basically, they should mirror each other. The reason for this is just in case you only have access to your calendar you’ll still be able to help your executive and give them everything they need.

  • Use technology. Find a resource that allows you to view files from anywhere, even if you don’t have your computer with you. If they are looking for a document you should be able to find it on your phone via a shared drive and send it to them via email.

  • Make sure you can access key documents offline. This way if you are without internet you can still find the information they need.

If you’re going to be out of service for an extended period just let your executive know when you’re not available and when you will be in case something comes up. It’s really just a matter of clear communication so that both of you can enjoy your evenings and weekends.

When you prepare yourself with all the details that may arise you don’t have to stress or change plans, you can easily get your executive the details they’re looking for.

With technology, today you can work from anywhere and everywhere. You can use other computers and different devices to get to your information.

By being open to new technology and programs you can ensure a stronger working relationship with you and your executive, while also maintaining a good work life balance.
