FACING YOUR FEARS AND REACHING YOUR GOALS

Fear is an emotion that controls the mind and determines the success or failure of an individual. The fear of failure, the fear of rejection and the fear of being uncomfortable can stop you from moving toward your goal.

Sometimes many people do not realize that it is their fears that hold them back from achieving their dreams. They fail to see fear for what it is. Instead of acknowledging their fears, they point to anxiety, stress, shyness, and nervousness as the cause of their setback. While it is true that fear can manifest itself in different forms, one thing is certain; fear makes you feel like you can't do it. What are the symptoms of fear? 1. Seeing Failure as a Sign To Quit When you live in fear, you see failure as an opportunity to quit. Contrary to what many people believe, failure is not a bad thing. In fact, it is a precious gift. When you fail, you learn to do better. Failure gives you an opportunity to learn vital lessons and gain experience. Fear prevents you from seeing failure as an opportunity to learn and grow. It makes you give up at the slightest chance. 2. Playing Safe Fear fills you with negative thoughts and convinces you that if you try something different, you will not succeed. Not until you begin to take risks and push yourself will you know your true potentials. Fear stops you from exploring your potentials and hinders your growth. 3. Making Excuses If you find yourself constantly giving excuses for why you can't accomplish your goals, then your fears have infested your mind. Most times these reasons sound quite convincing, but when you stop to reflect on them, you will realize that your excuses are exaggerated and ridiculous. If you sit and do nothing about your fears, it will eventually override your intelligence, preventing you from becoming who you desire to be. You can conquer your fears with the following tips. 1) Analyze your Fears You need to know what exactly your fears are. Next, ask yourself the cause of your fears. If for instance, you want to start a business but you fear that you will fail, outline the reasons why you think you cannot succeed. Is it that the time is not right, or you're too young/old, or you do not have enough resources? Make sure to write down what your reasons are. 2) Create an action plan Now that you have identified your fears, you need to do something about it. If you keep ignoring your fears, it will grow, but if you face it, it will shrink. You can start by talking about your fears with a trusted friend. Prepare in advance if you fear that you will perform poorly in a certain activity. 3) Develop self-confidence When you keep telling yourself that you can't do it, you will lose your strength. But if you believe in yourself and speak positive words to yourself, you will gain confidence. Having confidence in yourself and your abilities prevents fear from controlling your mind. 4) Stay Connected With Your Motivation Everybody has something that motivates them and gives them a reason to keep pushing through. To accomplish your goals, you need motivation. Find your motivation and stay connected to it if you want to conquer fear. A highly motivated person does not quit easily. 5) Build self-discipline Self-discipline helps you to do what you ought to doing at all times, regardless of the situation. When you are self-disciplined, you remain committed to your goals and avoid procrastination. Self-disciplined people are integrity keepers. You could miss out on a lot of opportunities if you allow your fears inform your actions. It could be an opportunity of getting a life-changing job, making valuable business connections and forming great friendships. The earlier you learn to conquer your fears, the less havoc it will cause in your life.
