Focusing on your fears is what stops you from focusing in your goals or dreams

Fear is a natural phenomenon. At one time or the other, it's natural for us to entertain fear. But focusing on our fears doesn't get us anywhere, does it? No it doesn't! Focusing on your fears will only draw you back. You have set specific goals to achieve over a period of time, but you will not get to the place you desire to be should you leave the things you have worries about unattended to. It's natural for fear to set in whenever you embark on a new venture or a new project, unfortunately, many people allows the fear to set in.

Several years ago, fear was important to protect us from dangers. But, this isn't the case today because the threats we face today aren't life threatening. As a matter of fact, fear doesn't offer us any form of protection, it only hinder our growth.

F.E.A.R. is an acronym for False Emotions Appearing Real or Fantasized Experiences Appearing Real. Now, if fear is a false emotion that appears to be real, why focus on something that is just a figment of your emotions? Why not focus on your goals and dreams to achieve the life you have always wanted for yourself?

Here are 3 ways to confront your fears and focus on your dreams.

Monitor your thoughts. If you want to confront your fears, the first thing required of you is to monitor your thoughts. Your thoughts produces your emotions, so you need to change your thoughts. Whenever fear sets in, review the thoughts that led to the feelings of fear. Do not entertain thoughts that do not support your goals. Do not allow thoughts that constantly says "you can't do it ''.

Think positive - The law of replacement states that you have to replace anything you want to remove. So, you have to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones. Also, visualize positive things. The moment you have a negative and fear producing thought, counter it immediately with a positive one. Take for instance; you are a writer and you dream of becoming a best selling author. Your thoughts should center getting a publisher that will like your work and take it to the market. The moment you have thoughts like "what if my book isn't accepted", counter it immediately with a positive thought and visualize your book in the market.

Be realistic about risk. People tend to overlook the practical strategy for overcoming fear; be realistic about risk. You have to be sure that you aren't risking more than you can lose. We take risks everyday, but you want to be sure that you can bear the loss should you fail. Don't take big challenges at a go, start with small challenges and slowly, work your way up. If your goal is to succeed as a marketer, start by calling customers or prospects you can pitch easily. And when you have a great pitch that sells, go for the higher prospects.
