WHEN YOU STOP PURSUING YOUR DREAMS AND GOALS, YOU ARE ONLY ADDING ANOTHER WRINKLE TO YOUR SOUL

Life indeed treats every one of us funnily. It is like a constantly tasking and unsatisfied master, ready to reward you when you pass the many tests, trials and temptations and of course, punish you when you don’t.

It is funny that many people would have preferred a life without struggles, toils, and pain. They would rather relax on the couch watching TV and eating all day long instead of going to work!

It is bitter to note that no matter the goals one has set, an army of enemies in the form of obstacles, challenges, bottlenecks, traps, agents of discouragement, await one, trying to force-stop the process. They are there to make sure that every victory won is thoroughly deserved or merited.

One of the most vicious of these enemies to the achievement of any dream or goal is the self – yes, yourself! There could be other factors that may force you to stop pursuing your dreams and aspirations nonetheless, but they all revolve around how you can find a way around them and go for goal.

Common Barriers to Pursuing your Dreams or Goals and Ways of Overcoming Them

1. Comparing yourself with others: When you engage in this dangerous habit, you will erode your confidence and will never be satisfied with your success. To overcome this, you must understand that everyone has a peculiar nature and has different talents and timeliness for achieving success. So, set a clear-cut vision for yourself and follow it confidently.

2. Being a Perfectionist: You must resist the tendency of thinking that you rather don’t try than fail. You must understand that life is flexible and is in constant flux. Go ahead with your action plan, forgive yourself and re-strategize whenever you fail.

3. Being a Procrastinator: The tendency of putting things off and waiting for the perfect moment when everything is rosy could also discourage you from pursuing your dreams and goals. You must understand that every moment could be the perfect moment. Go ahead to get what you want.

4. Needing the approval of others: This instinct is ingrained in most people from childhood. The tendency to get validation from others, trying to please them by conforming to their wants and expectations is another way through which you can rob yourself of success. You must be real and set reasonable standards for yourself.

5. Not having inspiration from mentors: When you do not have anyone that has been there before you, not hearing stories of challenges they faced in the same endeavor and how they succeeded, may make you lack the needed zeal. So shop for mentors and learn from them.
