Taking the Step to Set That First Goal Means You Are Already Half Way to Achieving It

Having goals in your life is very important. They are what makes us move forward; they are basically like the oxygen or the engine of our dreams. Without them, we will only have dreams without a reality. You need to set goals and have the necessary steps that will enable you to achieve the set goals. Goal setting can be easy but having the courage to take the first step towards achieving your goal is not as easy as it may seem to be. Taking the step to set that first goal means you are already half way to achieving it.

You may have a good idea or a goal but because you do not have the courage and motivation to take the first step and take action, it will remain in your head just like any other idea. So what stops you from taking the first step?

No matter how big or small the goal may seem to be, it needs to be broken down into practical steps.

You may want to learn something new like cooking a special meal, start exercising or even learning how to play piano. However, for this to happen you must have elaborate steps that you will follow in order to achieve the goal. The most important of all the steps is the first step of taking action about your goal. When you take the first step, the rest will come in succession without a problem. But when you do not take the first step, you will never do the rest.

Get out of your comfort zone

They say nothing comes easily. You have to work and put in some effort for you to achieve something. This also applies to goals no matter how small they are. You need to get out of your comfort zone if you really want to achieve your goals. Getting out of your comfort zone basically means doing something that you are not used to. For example, if you want to learn how to cook, you need to get into the kitchen, learn some new recipes, get used to the heat in the kitchen and even burn your fingers a little. Be willing to take responsibility for your actions and that way you will learn and achieve your goals. If you are afraid to take risks and get out of your comfort zone you will not even have the courage to take the first step.

Taking the first step generates a momentum and gives you the motivation to deal with the remaining steps. Once you have started, nothing will stop you accept yourself.
