Being compassionate is the first step towards forgiveness. It is worth remembering that none of us is perfect. It is common for people to rub each other the wrong way either knowingly or unknowingly. Embracing compassion allows you to put yourself in the other person’s shoes. Would you want others to forgive you after wronging them? Harboring anger and bitterness will only eat you away like cancer which can be dreadful. Why burden yourself with resentment when you can set your heart free through forgiveness?

Most religions teach about forgiveness persistently because it is the only way we can find true happiness in life. Imagine having a disagreement with your loved ones and living under the same roof. This can be a daunting experience because it is inevitable to avoid each other. Forgiveness allows us to get rid of the heavy burden of hatred and isolation. It makes no sense paralyzing your life over wrongs that others do to you. It is easy for people to get tempted to revenge, hurt or even cause pain to those who wronged them. Unfortunately, such actions will only weigh you down immensely.

Like it or not, forgiveness is the key to immense peace of mind, happiness, growth and freeing ourselves from anger, hatred or even regret. Entertaining such things is the fastest way of making yourself vulnerable to numerous chronic health complications such as stress, depression, anxiety, and heart ailments among others. Learning to let negative emotions go is paramount to enhancing optimal physical and mental health. Don’t hold onto things that bring you bad memories. Instead, be fast to forgive and forget in order to break the chain of confinement that comes with resentment towards offenders.

Re-evaluating your own imperfections, offenses and faults will make you realize how important forgiveness is.We all hurt others in one way or the other and only forgiveness can help us become better people. With this in mind, it is imperative to start following your heart by forgiving others in order to build solid and healthy relationships with those around us. Let us all learn to forgive unconditionally to make the world a better place for everyone.
