Have you ever heard anyone tell you that saying yes to something means saying no to other things? If you have heard this before and you don't understand what it means, it's time to concentrate and read this piece. Whether you like it or not, for every affirmation you make, there is a no somewhere. Sometimes, we say so much that the word ‘yes’ loses its meaning and becomes nothing but an obligation. When you always say yes to people around you without considering yourself, you will end up saying no to yourself and the things you want the most. You'll eventually get overwhelmed and irritated to the point that you'll lose your purpose. Also, you can say no to the point that you'll no longer have a life that is anything more than getting the basics done. You'll wake up in the morning, eat, go to work, come home eat, and go to bed. Your life will be predictable because you said no to many opportunities, technologies, and ideas. When you say yes to an opportunity to improve yourself even when those around you don't want you to, you'll be saying no to them. This is a good thing because, in the end, no one walks in your shoes. You'll end up shutting doors and learning things the hard way. You will stop growing and end up regretting why you ever let others control you if you keep saying no to opportunities. If you say yes to going on a retreat, you'll be saying no to staying at home. The same thing applies to every other thing in your life. You need to allow your perspective to grow by saying yes to new things that will help you to expand your mind. Say yes to something that will make you grow and say no to things that will hold you back. The fact that you feel obligated to be part of something or to do something doesn't mean you should do it. You need to search your heart and find yourself. Do what you want! Say yes to what you want and say no to the things that others want for you. Say no to the things that make you cry by saying yes to what makes you smile. If you are caught between two tough decisions, and you want to do both things equally, you need to listen to your inner voice. Take time out to meditate and clear your head to help you focus and hear the inner voice. Even when you want to make small decisions like buying something new, the best thing to do is to ask yourself why you want it. You need to determine how important that item is to you. This will help you say yes or no to the purchasing it. Keep in mind that saying no to something should not be a deprivation. It should just be that you are saying yes to something better: something you want more.
