Don’t Concentrate On the Thorns of a Rose, Concentrate on the Thorns That Lead To the Beauty above Them.
Roses are very popular and arguably among the most beautiful flowers loved by many all over the world. However, for you to get or pick roses, you must have to deal with large and sharp thorns. These thorns can even puncture the toughest general purpose gardening gloves. But still, people go beyond the thorns to get the sweet-smelling and beautiful roses.
Don’t concentrate on the thorns of a rose, concentrate on the thorns that lead to the beauty that is above them. To me, this quote is a statement of life and how you wish to live your life. Do you see roses between thorns and still grumble about how hard it is to get the flowers (prize)? Or do you realize that life has both the thorns and the roses but you are thankful that despite the existence of the thorns, roses exist?
How does this apply to your life?
In life, you are bound to experience tough times and rather happy moments. You should not always expect the good side of life. Do not only focus on the positives of life but also understand that there are moments of hardships and you should learn to navigate your way through these hardships for you to achieve your goal.
If you only focus on the thorns, your eyes will only see more of the problems and hardships that are around you. In fact, your focus on them will make them look even larger than they are and you will see them more frequently than they are. You might even make small things to seem larger problems in your mind’s eye. This will decrease your self-esteem and confidence making it harder for you to handle even the slightest of your problems.
Concentrating on roses does not mean that you have to forget the existence of thorns, it simply means that by focusing on the prize you will be less likely to become obsessed with their presence. You will be cautious on how to achieve your goal even if the surroundings are tough. This is the spirit of life. You need to stay focused and have your eyes fixed on the goal. Do not be afraid of the hardships that will happen in between you and the ultimate prize but rather find ways and solutions to each problem one at a time.
