AN ACT OF KINDNESS HELPS US TO KEEP BALANCE IN OUR LIVES


The act of kindness is a matter that raises a lot of questions in mind; and people avoid being kind when they do not get any reliable answers to these questions in their mind. The society has succeeded in interpreting this good act as a sign of weakness; so, when a person finds the opportunity to show kindness, they usually process questions like, what will people think of me? What if this person takes advantage of me, thinking that I am weak? etc. These and many other questions confront the person’s mind and mostly turns out to result in neglecting the opportunity to show kindness.

The definition of kindness as given by different sources should be referenced, according to the Oxford Dictionaries – the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. Also, according to the Urban Dictionary – the act of going out of your way to be kind to someone or show a person that you care. There can be many different other definitions, but the general idea of kindness is built on the fact that it comes into play when a person meets another who is facing some difficulties and challenges. It becomes understood that kindness exists because of the different challenges which people face from day to day in their lives.

Now, kindness being the complementing component of challenges, points out to us that there is need to discuss what challenges mean in this context. When we say challenges here, it should mean a situation of unexpected difficulty. Having made that point clear, we should know that every person meets challenges regularly; and a person who is kind will have developed the right attitude of accepting the responsibility of personal challenges, asking for help where necessary and dealing with the situation calmly. This kindness becomes developed within the person’s mind.

A kind person is always available to help others out of their difficult situations when called upon; this courageous person answers all the questions in the regular person’s mind with positive replies, seizing every opportunity that comes as a chance to show strength and not weakness. This person has developed strong positive attitudes towards challenges and now, always looks out to support anyone who needs help; more so, the zeal to teach how to maintain balance in a person's life is always portrayed.

Kindness should now be seen as the positive attitude portrayed in difficult situations, and this attitude can be seen to accumulate many component attributes which we should discuss:

Gratitude

Accepting situations with a thankful sense of responsibility. This comes because the situation is an opportunity to show real value and strength.

Patience

This is an act of waiting while maintaining a positive attitude. This is maintained while thinking and asking for positive ideas.

Empathy

This attribute tries to understand the situation of the other person in need of help.

Respect

This attribute allows a person to listen without a judgemental mind.

Modesty

The person knows that everyone has their challenges, so there is need to stay subtle and help.

Generosity

Here, the person is giving value to the other who is in need; and the zeal is always there to offer a helping hand.

Loyalty

These attributes make you needed on many occasions, and everyone around you always wants to pay you back with good. The loyalty forms a part of the foundation in the person's mind, and balance is shaped.

There is every assurance that people will not treat this us with kindness, but the level of balance in our minds still allows us to accept them. Kindness and all of its attributes is a balanced state of mind that forms the foundation of a person’s life even before the appearance of the challenging situation.
