SKIN SENSITIVITY

A sensitive skin is one that either reacts to a product or the external environment. When you make use of a skin product for instance and it might cause stinging, tightness, burning or redness on your skin, it might not necessarily lead to the conclusion that you have skin sensitivity. However, there are few signs dermatologists look out for in their diagnosis process. Some of these symptoms are blushing, flushing, dryness, skin bumps and erosion. This shows that not all unpleasant skin conditions are signs of skin sensitivity, they could be caused by other factors.

Some of the causes of skin sensitivity are as follows

  • Environmental Factors

Environmental factors here refer to weather conditions. Cold and hot weather affect the skin in various ways. One way can be the dehydration of the skin. This results in a dry skin which consequently cause the skin to be more sensitive. Another effect of weather conditions is a sore lip and the damage of your skin barrier.

  • Dirt and Pollution

Stuffs like dusts and smokes are encountered throughout the day as you go on with your daily activities. These substances are absorbed by the skin and thereby increasing the sensitivity of your skin. The sensitivity is the effect of weakening the effectiveness of your skin's natural barrier.

  • Hard water

Hard water consists of minerals such as iron, magnesium, calcium and alkaline. You can look at the sign of hard water around kettles or taps on your skin. Imagine this sign in the form of a scales on your skin. This will unleash a lot of harm on your skin causing it to be more sensitive.

  • Cleansing

Most people clean their skins with products that are dangerous and harmful to their skins. Cleansing should be done moderately as well because excess cleansing can make the skin irritated. Hence, it should be done with caution to improve the functioning of your skin barrier.

  • Lifestyle

The way you live your life ranging from your diet, sleep, habits and even your work environment can impact on your skin. Lifestyles such as late night leading to poor sleep, excessive smoking, poor dieting and insufficient intake of water have negative effects on certain hormones in the body which consequently impact negatively on your skin making it more sensitive.

Fibromyalgia has some impacts on the skins of individuals. It makes the skin to be sensitive and the signs are dry skin, itchy skin and mottled skin. Since fibromyalgia has a relationship with poor sleep, stress and depression, as a fibromyalgia sufferer you should be more focused on treating the causes. Some of the treatments include cultivating a healthy lifestyle. If you hardly sleep in the past, make efforts to sleep more. Depression is a very emotional challenge and as such you must focus on getting out if it. Have a positive mindset and hope for the best. Take out time to rest and engage in physical exercises. These might seem too casual but they have been tested and confirmed overtime to be effective. Other treatments are taking of medications, good dieting, drinking enough water and using good skin cleansing products.
