As a working mother and wife, it can be hard to balance work and home life. Over the past several years, I have learned to balance these and because of that I am much happier, healthier and more fulfilled in my personal life.
I recently took a test to see where I scored in Emotional Intelligence. It was important to me to see if I was healthy in this area after I have taken the time to really work out my home and life balance. My score showed that I have a very healthy EI score. Digging further into this having a healthy EI score contributes to the ability to problem-solve, leadership, goal achievement, and professional success.
Having a healthy EI score also shows an understanding of your own emotions, other people’s emotions, and emotional situations in general.
So now that I know this exactly what is Emotional Intelligence and what does it have to do with my Personal Relationships?
Emotional Intelligence (EI) is about understanding the emotions that erupt inside of you. It is your ability to react sensibly in a situation without putting your or someone else in an uncomfortable or unfavorable position.
It is an underlying power, an ability of being able to uplift yourself in all areas of your life. This could be your relationship with your family, your co-workers, your friends or anyone and everyone else. Most of us do not have the time to connect with ourselves, so we really understand how we feel.
Relationships are all about being together, understanding each other and supporting each other. The bond between two people is so important when you want to lead a healthy life and to grow as an individual.
The most thriving relationships consist of two people who have a sense of responsibility and understanding of their own emotions, expectations and goals. These types of individuals possess the following:
Open Communication – means they are good communicators
Positive Attitude – have an attitude of happiness
Self-Motivated – do what needs to be done
Self-Respect – like themselves
Flexible Emotions – ability to use different emotions in difference circumstances
Manages Stress – have discovered techniques that work for them
Emotional Intelligence is all about you being comfortable in your own thoughts. You should confidently be able to express your thoughts and point of view to those around you.
Have you ever noticed that some people can work well under stress and pressure while others tend to panic or even give up in a tough situation? This all comes from how much you really understand your potential as an individual.
It is so important for you to remember that you can confidently exercise your power to choose so you can choose your path for the life that shows you matter. Why? Because You Matter!
